Unit 5 Projects
Bust (repeat of final):
Since I already made a bust for my unit one final, I decided to use it here. This bust was modeled after the famous painting "The girl with the Pearl Earring."

3. Attach small walls to base of guitar and other details

5. Paint to match Mac DeMarco's album "This Old Dog
For this project I used Mac DeMarco, one of my favorite music artists, for my current artist. I especially love the guitar in his songs, so thats where the shape comes from. I tried to match the design to the design on his album "This Old Dog." Overall, I'm really happy how this piece turned out; the pattern and colors were very accurate and I'm glad it found a good home as this was my piece for the music and art festival.

1. Use the face mold and lay a slab of clay over it
2. Create details by adding and subtracting clay -- match to the mask from Avatar the Last Airbender

4. Glaze with dark blue and white
This is one of my favorite pieces Ive made all year. When I learned that we were going to be making masks, my mind immediately went to this mask I saw in one of my favorite shows, Avatar the Last Airbender. The first time I tried to do this, I let the mask dry on the mold without a bag and this caused it to crack. The second time I was able to prevent this. I love the contrast between the dark blue and light white, and I believe that I made it fairly show accurate which makes me happy.

1. Create slab of clay and roll it into a cylinder
2. Cut out bottom for mug and attach it
3. Create top of mug using a half circle and attach it
4. Sculpt cat and attach to top of mug
5. Fire
6. Glaze
I like how this mug turned out. I wish I made the walls thinner, but I didn't want it to crack at all. It was fairly easy to make, but the hard part came when glazing it. The first time I glazed it, I painted stripes on the outside of it. but when it came out of the kiln, I decided I didn't like the look of it. I tried to clean up the stripes, but I ended up getting frustrated and so I painted the whole thing solid purple. I like it better now
Pueblo Inspired Piece and Choice Project:
Unfortunately, I did not have time to create a Pueblo inspired piece or a choice piece because the mask took me two and a half tries (I needed to fix some cracking on the second version), and the mug also needed to be changed, which took longer than it should've.
